Clubhouse For Android Could Take 'Couple Of Months' To Launch
Clubhouse co-founder Paul Davidson has now stated that the audio chat app’s Android launch will take a couple of months.
Davidson stated during Clubhouse’s weekly town hall event that the company is working hard to launch its Android app, but that it won’t be available for a couple of months, as
Davison initially announced the Android time frame during a Clubhouse Townhall meeting that was subsequently made public when a recording was uploaded to YouTube.
This is not the first time we’ve heard mentions of Clubhouse arriving on Android. In a January blog post, the firm said that it was planning to bring its product to Android “soon” but never gave any concrete details. Last month, CNBC reported that the firm had now hired Android software developer Mopewa Ogundipe to begin work on the Android app.

Clubhouse’s appeal has not gone unnoticed by the larger tech firms who want to stomp on any competition before it becomes a threat. In February, there were reports that Facebook was working on an alternative to Clubhouse and at the end of last week, the messaging app Telegram got a new update which brought similar functionality to Telegram channels. Heck, even Discord is working on a feature that functions a lot like Clubhouse.
Davidson has stated that Clubhouse requires a slower pace when it comes to opening up access to more users. He outlined that users’ experiences in the app can be negatively affected when Clubhouse grows because it can be harder to find friends and content that pertains to their interests.
That said, with competition knocking on the door, were not sure how long Clubhouse will be able to keep up with its invite-only model. But then again, exclusivity may boost its appeal – something OnePlus had been very successful doing in its early years.
